In this film Moritz Bleibtreu plays the main character, taxi driver Tarek Fahd, who decides to participate in an psychological experiment, a simulated prison situation that is supposed to shed light on aggressive behaviour. Supervised by Professor Klaus Thon and his assistant Dr. Jutta Grimm, the participants in the experiment are randomly divided into prisoners and guards. Within a short spell the tension between the two fronts dramatically rises and violence takes over. The experiment gets out of control.
This thriller is based on Mario Giordano’s novel Black Box which draws on Philip Zimbardo’s actual Stanford prison experiment in 1971.
