Verena Kick

Starting Fall Semester 2019, Verena will join the Department of German at Georgetown University as an Assistant Professor of German. She is very excited to bring her teaching experience and her research focus on 20th century Modernism, Digital Humanities and film/media to Georgetown’s Department of German.

As a PhD Candidate in the Department of Germanics, she has had excellent support from her PhD advisor, Sabine Wilke, and all other faculty members at all stages of her graduate student career. She has received additional support from the American Friends of Marbach, the Kurt Tucholsky Stiftung and from UW’s Simpson Center for the Humanities. As a Digital Humanities Summer Fellow in the Simpson Center, she was able to develop a digital addendum for her dissertation on 1920s photobooks. In addition, she had many opportunities to gain teaching experience at all levels of the German language curriculum as well as a Teaching Assistant for various literature and culture classes. She is very grateful for the support by faculty, staff and fellow graduate students over the past couple years and she will miss Denny Hall, Seattle and the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
